Trent Reznor has talked a lot about the internet's potential to be a powerful force for recording artists, and now that he's no longer signed to a label, he's putting his music where his mouth is.

Now, with the Nine Inch Nails Ghosts Film Festival , Reznor has asked the web at large to create music videos for the 36 songs on the album. Winners chosen by the band will be featured in a special YouTube section in the coming months. Nine Inch Nails apparently created these instrumental songs with specific cinematic ideas in mind a method Herbie Hancock also employs.

The musicians collide as many would hope in a melange of industrial percussion, furious feedback and intimate and cinematic piano bits. As for the video, Elfman called upon Aron Johnson to direct, utilizing a mix of warped imagery and VHS-era aesthetics to represent the song.

The clip also intertwines some of Sarah Sitkin's archived footage and brand new 3D modeling to essentially serve as a remix of the original video Sitkin had created for the song.
