I think for subjects like Maths, they only really care about how well you do in Maths, so someone who got Bs and Cs in their other subjects might still be able to get in. Leading universities, such as Oxford, Cambridge, and other Russell Group institutions, will usually only give offers based on A level grades. Currently, only a third of undergraduate courses list their entry requirements in terms of UCAS Points.
A fourth subject to AS-level has never been a requirement at Oxford. Additional qualifications can be one way of demonstrating the academic abilities that will be required for the intense studying of an Oxford degree but they are not essential.
