How do cirque du soleil train
Fell Updated May 28, Strong is sexy. And as I get older, I find myself less motivated by vanity , and more focused on how well my body performs. These performers have amazing physiques, and yet their training regimens are about wowing audiences with feats of strength, stamina, agility and grace.
Looking good is just a side benefit. Recently, I took my family to see their performance of Amaluna in Calgary. It was my fourth time seeing the troupe, and later I went backstage to interview two of the performers about how they train to keep healthy, high-performance, injury free and looking good. I go to the gym and do the elliptical on high resistance to keep my legs strong. She also brings a bicycle on tour and bikes into work each day.
We caught up with Haley Viloria, who is currently performing in Amaluna at the Royal Albert Hall about her daily routine. I tend to get about eight hours sleep, even on days off. My favourite breakfast — that I have every day — is a cup of coffee with Greek yoghurt, a banana, nuts and a handful granola. I begin my sessions with some stretching, splits, bridges, and a gymnastics-style warm up. For my gym routine, I try not to divide it up into a leg day or an arm day or an ab day.
For me, all of my conditioning is very specific to my specialties. I do a lot of pull-ups and push-ups, rather than exercises that use just one muscle group. If my body composition changes and I become heavier, my skills become harder.
This gives our artists a chance to see other performances, meet other artists and appreciate the diversity of the organization. Exchanges are sometimes paid for entirely by the tour, but in most cases, each person pays a small part of the costs. Several of our resident shows are performing in Las Vegas. With this in mind, social activities are organized to enable artists to meet up, get to know each other and share their experiences.
Both touring and resident shows make special efforts to celebrate birthdays and other personal milestones, as well as local and national holidays. Cirque du Soleil is an international company, and this is apparent not only in our presence around the world but also in the incredibly diverse nationalities of our performers.
During your time with us in Montreal you will be housed in our artists' residence, where we provide a secure and comfortable living space just across the street from our training facilities.
